I'm Proud to be Your Candidate for the 2017 Apex Municipal Elections!

Thank You!
First, I'd like to thank everyone in Apex for nearly four wonderful years serving on the Apex Town Council. I loved this place before being elected and now I love it even more. Seeing how people engage in so many ways both public and private to improve our town is inspiring.

Re-Election
Second, I want to let you know that I am running for re-election in 2017. My statewide health/family advocacy work and my own family keep me busy and are quite rewarding but I am still passionate about what we have been able to accomplish together for Apex. I feel that I still have something to contribute.

A Critical Time for Apex
In the next four years we must decide who and what we want to be as a community. We are growing rapidly with requests to accommodate a lot of new neighborhoods and some new businesses and offices. With my statewide travel, I do understand it’s a good problem to have. We must, however, improve upon our sense of identity in our decision-making, etc. We must be proactive and innovative, positioning ourselves for the future.

We should, as a community, decide what we want to change about Apex and what we want to preserve.

We know that we must maintain an adequate infrastructure to keep pace with our growth. To me, this means working as much as we can with other public and elected officials. This means providing adequate staffing of first responders (police, fire, EMS and public works) and support of all our town staff which then helps provide for our residents. It also means features/amenities like parks, greenways, paths, events, a center for older adults and more. We should be able to enjoy the community and do so safely. Many residents desire balancing smart growth with features of small town character.

Local Focus
My hope as friends and neighbors who love this town and have concerns outside of Apex, is that we work together on these local issues. Over the past 3+ years I have tried to meet with a variety of people and listen to a variety of voices. I’ve attended neighborhood gatherings and public meetings, walked neighborhoods, attended town and school events, have represented Apex in meetings and events, have spoken to local groups and at Apex special ceremonies such as for Memorial Day.

I Ask for Your Support
I have tried to be present and to represent your voice while introducing new ideas such as: Think Apex. I’ve tried to bring balance and a different perspective to the Council while working as a team and will continue to do so, if reelected. There is still much to do. I hope you will support me for re-election.
